在 GDC 2026 活動上,有一場由 ROCKFISH Games 的技術總監 Sven Lohse(代表作《Everspace》系列)帶來的在地化議程「Common Dev Mistakes That Lead to Poor Localization by Agencies」,分享如何在工作流程中導入「在地化意識」,藉此避開常見的坑。我們覺得這場議程算是在過往 GDC 我們有聽過的講題中,對於在地化技術議題(動態文字、UI/UX、字形、工作流程等)含括最全面、清楚的議程,而且其實也滿意外直到現在,這方面的教學資源或討論,仍然流於片段或針對性地解決問題,很難在一時一地看到完整的討論。

這次希望透過我們聽講紀錄內容的分享,可以轉述一些關鍵的學習方向,以及促成開發者間對於在地化技術議題的更多討論。

At GDC 2026, Sven Lohse, Technical Director at ROCKFISH Games (the team behind the Everspace series), delivered a standout session titled "Common Dev Mistakes That Lead to Poor Localization by Agencies." He shared how to build "localization awareness" directly into your development workflow to steer clear of common pitfalls.

In our experience, this was one of the most well-rounded and articulate GDC talks on localization techniques and nuances we’ve ever attended—covering everything from dynamic text and UI/UX to fonts and loc pipelines. It’s honestly surprising that even today, resources on this topic remain somewhat fragmented, often focusing on specific solutions rather than providing such a holistic overview in one place.

In this IGDShare meetup, we’ll dive into our notes from the talk to pass on key insights and, hopefully, kickstart more conversations among developers about the technical side of localization.
